Club Code of Conduct
Role of the Club: The main objective of Croagh/Kilfinny GAA Club is to ensure that the players are encouraged to learn and play Hurling in a safe and friendly environment. All players are encouraged to participate in Club activities, make friends and have fun.

The Code of Conduct outlines the rules and procedures which should be observed and practised by all members, visitors, officials, spectators to ensure that everyone will enjoy participating in club activities.

General Code

· Respect, courtesy, and honesty are required of every club member, visitor, official, spectator etc.

· All players/mentors must be registered as members of the club on an annual basis.

· Respect must be always shown to teammates, coaches, referees, opposition, parents and visitors.

· Players must respect club property and have regard for their own and others belongings.

· Crude and offensive language is not acceptable, and bullying will not be tolerated.

· Players and mentors are required to always act as ambassadors for the club, on and off the field.

· Abuse of club facilities and property will not be tolerated.

· Parents/Guardians are required to collect their children promptly from training and games.

Code of Conduct- Players

· All players must play fairly, do their best and always comply with the rules of Hurling.

· All players requested to be punctual for training and games and have correct playing gear.

· Helmets are compulsory and must be worn once you enter the field.

· All forms of Photographic equipment, i.e., Camera Phones not permitted in the dressing rooms.

· Respect must be shown to your teammates, mentors, and opponents.

· Decisions made by officials must be respected and accepted.

· Players should represent the club with pride, dignity, and commitment.

· Regardless of results players should be supportive of each other and their coaches.

· Always remember to be modest in victory and gracious in defeat.

Code of Conduct- Mentors

· Avoid physical or verbal abuse.

· Coach by example and always encourage sportsmanship and fair play.

· Ensure time and attention given to less talented players.

· Ensure that training is enjoyable for all players.

· Emphasise effort over results.

· Avoid verbal exchanges with opposing mentors, referees, officials, and spectators.

· Do not rebuke a player for making a mistake - always encourage.

· Avoid taking children alone in a car.

· Avoid spending excessive amounts of time with children away from others.

· Never take training sessions alone.

· Be a ‘Role Model’ and maintain the highest standards of conduct when interacting with children, parents, mentors, and officials.

· Club mentors/coaches must be Garda vetted.

Code of Conduct- Parents

· Always encourage and support your child in their sport.

· Be familiar with mentors who are coaching your child.

· Behave responsibly on the side-line

· Bring children to and from training and games.

· Encourage your child to play by the rules.

· Ensure your child has correct training/playing gear.

· Support the coaches and help whenever you can.

· Ensure your child is a paid-up member.

· Respect the coach’s decision and encourage your children to do the same.

· Show your support by attending matches on a regular basis and helping in club activities.
