20th August 2021, Mr.Binman U15 Feile Iomaint, Croagh/Kilfinny GAA Grounds.

We hosted the Mr Binman Feile Iomaint Grp 3 in our grounds on Friday 20th August 2021. This group consisted of 4 teams: Dromcollogher/Broadford, Templeglantine, Kileedy Tournafulla and Croagh/Kilfinny/Rathkeale, with the winners proceeding to the county quarter finals the following day.

We played Templeglantine in our first group game at 3pm and after a slow start we eventually got into our rhythm and ran out comfortable winners on a score of Croagh/Kilfinny/Rathkeale 2-13 Templeglantine 1-03

In our 2nd game at 4pm we played Dromcollogher/Broadford, we made some positional switches in this game to give players a breather before the final group game and this game went right down to the wire. A very determined Dromcollogher/Broadford side would not give in and we have to fight hard to earn a draw in the end, score was Croagh/Kilfinny/Rathkeale 1-03 Dromcollogher/Broadford 1-03.

Our final game was against Kileedy Tournafulla. This was a must win game for us if we were to proceed to the quarter final the following day as Kileedy Tournafulla had won their previous 2 games. Some motivational words were had with the boys before the start of this game and they responded excellently and played their best hurling of the day in the 1st 15 minute half, leading at half time by 8 points with a score of Croagh/Kilfinny/Rathkeale 2-06 Kileedy Tournafulla 0.04.

We knew we had a rally battle on our hands in the 2nd half to maintain that lead and that is exactly what happened. Kileedy Tournafulla through everything at us and got a fortunate goal early in the 2nd have to get them right back into the game. We had some chances that we failed to put away and it was backs to the wall stuff for the remaining minutes to keep Kileedy Tournafulla at bay. In the end they proved too strong for us and eventually won by 4 points on a score of Croagh/Kilfinny/Rathkeale 2-06 Kileedy Tournafulla 3.07.

The boys played really well and showed some great character and skill. We have the potential as we showed in the 1st half against Kileedy Tournafulla and with a bit of luck we could have come away with a victory in that game and gone on to compete in the quarter finals the following day, but it was not to be.

Well done to all the boys, the team mentors David Lynch, Seamus Stapleton, Barry Lenihan, Denis Lenihan and Tomás O'Connor.

The panel was as follows: TJ Moloney, Conor McAuliffe, Patrick Lenihan, Sean Richardson, Jack Murphy, Oscan Markham, Aidan O'Shea, Timmy Molyneaux, Owen Dee, Danny Roche, Jack Geoghegan, Scott Stapleton, Brian Sweeney, Jack Roche, Darragh O'Carroll, Declan Walsh, Jack Giltenane, Joseph Lenihan, Patrick Hartigan, Dylan Wilmot and Sonny Madigan.
