Our minor hurlers had a hugely impressive victory in the Minor B County Final against Belville Gaels on Tuesday evening under the lights in Adare.
Having to change jerseys due to a clash of colours just before throw in seemed to affect our lads and Belville settled into the game much more quickly than us.
They raced into an early lead and just as the game seemed to be slipping away, Timmy stepped up to blast a rocket of a shot to the top corner to bring us back into it. The halftime score was Belville Gaels 2-5 Croagh/Kilfinny Rathkeale 1-4
However, our lads were inspired in the second half and by the 38th minute, had brought the game level 1-9 to 2-6
Another goal from Timmy saw us leading by the minimum margin 2-11 to 2-10 with seven minutes left. Belville levelled up the game again soon after and a few more scores were traded but we held on for a famous win on a scoreline of 2-13 to 2-12
This was a fantastic win for the lads. Our backs were outstanding and after a slow start, got to grips with a very good Belville forward line and restricted them to just 7 points in the second half.
Our midfield and forwards took the game to Belville in the second half and took some excellent scores. But it was the teamwork, intensity and work rate from everyone that stood out and was the main factor in our victory.
It was a very sporting game played in excellent conditions.
Afterwards, Darragh O'Carroll was presented with the cup by Frank Reidy.
Congratulations to the team and management.
