The club extends our deepest sympathies to the Costello and Buckley families on the sad passing of Tom Costello Snr. Ballinvira, Croagh, on Thursday morning 3rd August.
Tom was a native of Duagh, Co. Kerry and was very proud of his roots in the Kingdom. He played Gaelic football at the highest level with Kerry and won an All Ireland Junior football medal in 1954 and had the honor of representing Kerry at Senior level where he won a treasured Celtic Cross as a member of the All Ireland winning team of 1955.
Tom was a tremendous supporter of Croagh/Kilfinny GAA club, both on and off the field. He was the trainer of the club team that won the West Junior B hurling title in 1970 and always supported the club in any way he could. A number of years back Tom was elected as one of the Life Presidents of the club, a position he was very proud to have and is indicative of the high esteem in which he was held within the club. He will be sadly missed by all of us. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam dilís.
His remains will repose at his residence in Ballinvira, Croagh (V94E127) on Saturday, 5th of August, from 5pm to 8pm. Arriving at St. John the Baptist Church, Croagh for funeral celebration of Tom’s life on Sunday at 12 noon, with burial afterwards in the local cemetery.
