We were invited to play in the Padraic Kearney U17 Hurling Tournament in Adare today. There were 4 Hurling teams playing 2 semi final's and then a final. We were up against Adare in Semi Final 1 with the guys pulling out all the stops to beat our local rivals and progress into the Final. Ballybrown were winners of Semi Final 2 where they put away St Kierans to take their place in the final. The Final was a tough battle with our guys fighting hard against a great Ballybrown team and a strong wind. When the half time whistle blew we were down by 6 points. After some stern and motivating words from the management team at half time the guys went out and in the last 7 minutes managed to draw level. It was a real battle with Ballybrown going back in front again moments later. The guys were not to be undone and in the dying minutes they managed to pull clear to win by 7 points. It was a real show of skill, determination and fitness, that won it in the end not to mention the the work rate of the whole team and some great work from the sub bench. It was great to see and the future looks bright for this young bunch of lads whom some of have already bagged All Ireland schools medals. Well done to all involved.
