Congratulations to Cian, Ryan, the panel of players and coaches of Colaiste na Trocaire Senior Hurlers who were crowned Masita All Ireland PPS Senior D hurling champions yesterday (16/03/2023) in Portlaoise.

They had to draw on their battling qualities which have served them so well in all games in this competition to shake off a physical Lucan CBS team. The never say die attitude of this team in unreal, after starting off the game really well against a strong breeze they found themselves 5 points behind at half time on a score line of Lucan CBS 1-11 Colaiste na Trocaire 0-09.

Having the breeze at their backs in the 2nd have they still had a lot of work to do to get back into the game. True to their determination to win they came charging into the game in the 2nd half and scored a goal and 2 points without reply in the first 5 minutes and were back on level terms. From there on they controlled the game really well but had to fight hard to keep Lucan CBS at bay. With only a couple of points in it as the clock ticked down, a goal for Lucan would have changed the game but Colaiste na Trocaire were not going to let this game get away from them and finished in style with some massive points from play to see out the game and win by 8 points.

Cian O'Carroll collected the All Ireland Cup in the inaugural year of this competition. What an achievement, 100% record in Munster and the All Ireland series.

A very proud day for the school, the players, the coaches, the parents and families and all the clubs in West Limerick that were represented. A day that is now written into the history books.
