The club extends our deepest sympathies to the family of Richie Chawke, who sadly passed away on Sunday February 26th.
Richie a native of Granagh made himself at home when he moved to Croagh and got involved as a player with the club.
He was an integral part of the club during the 80's, 90's and early noughties and played wing back in the famous 1986 team that played in the West Junior Final and in the county series. When Richie finished his playing career, he got involved at Bord na nOg level where he coached a number of underage teams and also served as Chairman of the Bord na nOg for a few years in the early noughties.
Fondly remembered by many people in conversation these past few days as a softly spoken man, always had a smile for everyone and above all else a gentleman, he will be sadly missed by all of us. We offer our condolences to Carmel, Paul & Aoife and the extended Chawke and Burke families.
